About – Sonja Coles

Living and working in Oxfordshire I am fascinated by the natural world and find it never ceases to provide inspiration.

I generally use a combination of traditional fine art media and new media in my studio practice, but recently discovered that I really enjoy exploring the experimental nature of collagraph plate making and the unpredictable nature of this form of printing. I like its abstract quality with emphasis on texture, colour and shape.

I have produced a range of collagraph prints for exhibition this year, creating imagery evocative of childhood holidays exploring the Cornish coastline.

I am delighted to be exhibiting at West Ox Arts gallery in Bampton for Oxfordshire Artweeks this May and both framed and unframed hand pulled Collagraph prints and greeting cards will be available.

I completed my studies with the Interactive Design Institute and was awarded a First Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art by the University of Hertfordshire in 2018

I am a member of the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative and have exhibited both online and locally in Oxfordshire, specifically at the West Ox Arts gallery in Bampton and the Oxford Printmakers, where a selection of my prints and card designs are available. Prints and cards are also available via my Etsy shop.
